Sarah James

Sarah James was born in Northern Ireland in 1969. Whilst these were troubled times in Ireland, across the world man was walking on the moon. A milestone event that many thought was only ever a fantasy. As a child she was enthralled by Man on the Moon and stories of faeries and mystical creatures. Her love of all things fantasy has been a theme through to adulthood. After 25 years in a professional career she returned to her passion for painting with encouragement from her family and is now dedicating her time to her art and her family.

Her colourful paintings are a reflection of her desire to always see the brighter side of life and see the potential for the world around her, deeply inspiring her work. She feels this stems from a childhood of climbing rocks, mountains and any intriguing path or steps and a love of colourful meadow flora and fauna. A great love of history and poetry have been great influences throughout her life. From childhood her artistic talents were apparent but her current work has been greatly inspired by the stories she would create for her children when they were young where she would create little worlds with their own characters, towns and villages; her children now share these stories with their own children.

In the current dark times, her paintings bring a smile to every face, from children to the elderly. “It gives me such pleasure when I see someone whose day has been lifted and they chat about how cheerful a painting is and say it has made them smile. There are few rewards greater than the appreciation of another and the love of your family.”
