Paul Mitchell
Paul Mitchell is an Irish artist originally from County Tyrone; he currently lives in Newcastle upon Tyne where he works in arts education and within his second studio.
Paul’s work borrows from the traditional motifs of still-life and landscape painting. These technical devices are employed in order to structure the semi figurative spaces reflective of a restless, yet a quiet, anxiety. His paintings ruminate on concepts of memory; personal experiences which are remembered or reinvented. He has been strongly influenced by the rural and semi-rural landscapes of Mid Ulster and Northumberland alongside his academic background in art history. Paul’s work is held within private collections across the UK and Ireland.
