Liam McCloskey

Liam McCloskey, born June 1964, is a self taught artist from Northern Ireland. He graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast in 1987 with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. During a sabbatical from his career in the manufacturing industry, around 17 years ago, Liam pursued his interest in art. He exhibited in several galleries across Northern Ireland including exhibiting with the Pastel Society Ireland in Downpatrick, and completed numerous portrait commissions.

One of Liam’s passions throughout his life has been sport, this passion influenced his creation of sporting art capturing the excitement, theatre and skill involved. This alongside his love of portraiture and figurative art has influenced him to focus on developing his technique and control of various mediums. 

Liam returned to his career in the manufacturing industry for the last thirteen years but has since returned to painting full time. He is now focusing on eliciting emotional response to the work by experimenting and abstracting away from the rigour of technique and accuracy
