George Gourley
George Gourley from Unagh, outside Cookstown, comes from a rural background with his grandfather and five previous generations being farmers. His vivid childhood memories of being outside and spending time in his father’s Bedford lorry delivering animal feed and groceries across the eastern Sperrins instigated his interest and passion for the subjects of his paintings. With much of his work revolving around derelict farm buildings, people and old farming methods his work is completely unique and the limited colour palette he uses to create his work it stands out from other artists and reflects the lack of colour found within; muted and soft overlaid with dust and shadows.
