John Moore

John Moore is a self taught artist who lives and works near Ballymena, County Antrim in Northern Ireland. Coming from his family butchery business he began painting professionally in late 2000. He specialises in animal portraiture, specifically game birds and large breeds.

Growing up in the village of Cullybackey, he spent a lot of time outdoors in the woods and around the river. This opportunity for exploration laid the foundations for a lifelong love of nature and the world around him as is so clearly visible in his paintings. 

John says “I can't remember a time when I didn't draw or paint, and it was obvious that the subjects I chose would be the things that excited me most. Although I worked as a butcher, I continued to paint and when the opportunity arose to pursue it as a career, I grabbed it with both hands”
